Thursday Island War Memorial

Description
The Cenotaph is approx 1m tall, concreted on a concreted plinth. It is red and white, and was situated on a platform within Anzac Park. However it was relocated when the WW2 Memorial was built in the park. It is now alongside this memorial.

Commemorative services held

Anzac Day and Remembrance Day each year. The Memorial Column provided the centrepiece for all Anzac Day and Remembrance Day services, till the WW2 Memorial Wall was established, thus now allowing the two memorials to be centrepieces. These two services are co-ordinated by the Torres Shire Council, Torres Strait RSL, 51 Far North Queensland Regiment, Charlie Coy and members of the Royal Australian Navy.
