Description

Marble honour board with inlaid black lettering. The Roll of Honour lists 1592 names from WWI.

A simple design, with small dedication plaque below that was installed circa 2000 following renovations.

THIS HONOUR ROLL IS REPORTED TO REPRESENT

THE NAMES OF THOSE PERSONS WHO ENLISTED

IN THE MACKAY DISTRICT DURING WORLD WAR I.

THE HONOUR ROLL MAY NOT BE COMPLETE IN THAT

SOME NAMES MY NOT BE RECORDED HERE

WHICH DESERVE TO BE.

WHILST THIS ROLL REFLECTS THE MANY CITIZENS WHO

ENLISTED. IT IS UNDERSTOOD THAT SOME MAY NOT

HAVE BEEN SUBSEQUENTLY ACCEPTED INTO THE

THE ARMED FORCES. CERTAINLY THE PATRIOTISM AND

COURAGE OF THOSE NAMED ON THIS ROLL

MUST BE COMMENDED AND ADMIRED.
