- Additional information
In 2010 the Weipa War Memorial was upgraded and enhanced due to a partnership between Weipa RSL and the Queensland Government, with a Community Memorials Restoration grant assisting to finance the new memorial.
The current Weipa War Memorial was unveiled in October 2010.
Prior to 2010, the Weipa War Memorial was a small blue, white and brown tiled memorial cairn on a two stepped base. A cross symbol is on the front of the memorial and below is the inscription Lest We Forget. A flagpole is located at the back and white fence posts, with chain draped along posts, surround the memorial and flagpole. This memorial was opened by the Weipa RSL on Remembrance Day in 1978.
