Additional information

The ANZAC Day Dawn Service parade halts in Bourbong Street whilst a small contingent break parade to place a wreath at the Civic Centre Portico Memorial. The parade then continues to the Soldiers Memorial. Until the advent of Lions Remembrance Park, all services other than ANZAC Day and Remembranc Day were held here. This is generally the site of Services held in conjunction with Defence Service related organisations' conferences when held in Bundaberg.

It is believed the plaque was erected to recognize World War Two when the Civic Centre was built and in mid 1980 the then Bundaberg Vietnam & South East Asia Veterans Association with the assistance of Ziegler's Memorials funded an upgrade of the bronze plaque to include later conflicts. The names of those who died are listed on associated Honour Boards inside the Portico area.
