Canal Creek War Memorial WWII
The memorial consists of a basic building which contains a sandstone plinth, bronze plaque, interpretive signage, photographs and an Honour Roll to commemorate all personnel on board the DouglasDakota C-47 aircraft that crashed nearby on 19 December 1943 during WWII.
On the inside walls hang panels that explain the significance of the site, including photographs of the type of aircraft that crashed, the pilot, aircraft wreckage at crash site and pictures of salvaged aircraft wreckage pieces that are held at Yeppoon RSL and Rockhampton Military Museum.
