Hervey Bay War Memorial

Location of Hervey Bay War Memorial

Freedom Park
Main Street
Pialba QLD 4655

The square marble memorial set on a stone base is an excellent example of intricate marble carving around the top. Marble name plaques are carved into the memorial and the memorial is set on a square marble stepped base. A large metal world globe was installed on the top of this memorial in 1999, appearing to sit on four gold laurel leaves, perhaps to signify PEACE. Two spotlights are installed on diagonal corners.

The main plaque reads: This stone was erected by the citizens of Pialba and district in honour of the men who served and fell in the Great War 1914-1919. Webb. Mboro.
Above this is a carved recessed plaque reading: In memory of the men who paid the supreme sacrifice in the Great War 1914-1919, and lists 22 names. The other three sides also have carved recessed plaques reading Honour Roll and listing a total of 90 names with rank beside them.
