Oonoonba Bombing Memorial
A small stone memorial located where a coconut palm once stood before the bombing of Townsville in WWII.

This coconut palm was planted to mark the 50th anniversary of the bombing of Townsville during WWII. Japanese aircraft dropped a total of 26 bombs during 3 air raids, but the only casualty was a coconut palm which stood near this site. It was damaged in the final raid at 2.27am on July 29th 1942.
